The Staatliche Graphische Sammlung, München, is going digital. The mobile app project ‘open Boxes’ by Munich’s Staatliche Graphische Sammlung will run for the entire duration of the Schaustelle, from April to September 2013. An ever increasing number of works from the Graphische Sammlung will be made digitally accessible on several iPads in the lounge of the Schaustelle. Some of the iPads are connected to monitors, thus allowing the prints and drawings to be viewed in a larger format. These works can be viewed in person in the study hall of the Graphische Sammlung, located near the Schaustelle at Katharina-von-Bora-Strasse 10. The selection of works exclusively features new acquisitions from the past ten years, spanning the period from the opening of the Pinakothek der Moderne in 2002 to the temporary Schaustelle of today. Thus, a representative number of these treasures, which otherwise remain hidden away in boxes in the collection’s archives, will be made digitally accessible to visitors for the first time.
