The Swedish artist Bo Christian Larsson (* 11. April 1976 in Kristinehamn, now living in Berlin and Ragnarby, Schweden) has created an installation specifically for the SCHAUSTELLE which focuses on destruction and construction. A performance by the artist’s alter ego, ‘SOB’, documented on video, provided the starting point for this project. A human figure of unspecified sex made of soft, unfired clay, painted white, lies on a wooden platform. ‘SOB’ breaks off a bit of clay from the figure and makes a small obelisk out of it that is then placed in the room. This process is repeated until the human figure is destroyed and “an army of mysterious monuments” created, as the artist puts it. The remains of this simultaneously destructive and creative act are left in the room as an installation, accompanied by a film of the performance.
